Boston Library Consortium (BLC)

The Boston Library Consortium (BLC) is association of nineteen academic and research libraries located in Massachusetts, Connecticut (including UConn), New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. UConn students, faculty, and staff have borrowing privileges at many of the BLC libraries; policies vary depending on the library.

Register for the BLC card at the Babbidge Library Circulation/Reserve Desk or at a UConn Regional Campus Library. (Always take your UConn ID with you.) BLC cards are issued to faculty, staff, visiting scholars, graduate students, and retirees. The cards have an expiration date of August 31st of the current year. Undergraduate BLC cards expire at the end of the semester. Cards may be renewed as long as the applicant still meets eligibility criteria. Cards are non-transferable.
  • Virtual Catalog -- This combined catalog allows you to request loans from BLC libraries without visiting the libraries. Not all BLC libraries participate. This link includes a list of participating libraries and a FAQ. Generally, items may be borrowed for 28 days and are non-renewable. Pick up materials at the Babbidge Library. You cannot pick up your BLC items at the M&DA Library. You can drop off BLC items at either the M&DA or Babbidge Libraries. (Alternative web site: enter as "guest" for viewing only.)
