How to Avoid or Reduce Fines
- KNOW the loan periods (PDF).
Some items circulate for only a week or two. Examples:
- Undergraduates and community borrowers: sound recordings
and videos circulate for only a
week (they can be renewed
one time in your library account).
Fines accrue daily!
- Graduate students and faculty: videos circulate for
only two weeks!
- Check your date-due slips or check your account online
to see what's due.
- Renew materials online via your library account.
- Library notices are sent to your UConn email account. Forward your
UConn email if necessary.
- Pay attention to recall notices (recall fines are high).
- If an item is overdue, there's a small grace period. If you act
right away, you may avoid the fine.
- If an item is lost or damaged, report the problem immediately,
before fines accrue. Consult a library supervisor regarding replacement
options.
