Listening and Viewing

The M&DA Library has four group listening/viewing rooms (one with a computer), A/V carrels, study spaces near public datajacks for online listening, and two Seminar Rooms with AV equipment, a computer, and overhead computer/audio/video projection. Recording is not permitted in any area. The following playback equipment is available at the M&DA Library: Compact Disc, LP turntables, Hi-8, Laser Disc, Cassette tape, DVD, and VHS players.

Retrieving Recordings

Look up call numbers in HOMER (UConn's library catalog), then present the call number along with a valid university ID or UConn Community Borrowers card at the M&DA Library circulation desk. See Audio Recordings or Drama/Theater Videos for more information about the library's collection and HOMER search strategies.

Loan Periods

Please view the circulation loan period policies for information regarding loan periods for Faculty, Staff, Graduate, Honors, and Undergraduate students, and Alumni and Community Borrowers. Recordings may be removed from the library unless they are on reserve.

Headphones

Bring your own headphones to the library or check out headphones at the circulation desk for use at the library's computers or listening stations. The listening rooms have speakers.

Returning Recordings to the Library

Return recordings to the Music & Dramatic Arts Library circulation desk by closing time on the date printed on the charge slip. Avoid using the book drop; if you must use it, please wrap the item carefully so it is not damaged; do NOT put LPs into the book drop. If portions of the item are missing (e.g., disc, notes, case), the item will not be checked in until all parts are present; you may be subject to overdue or replacement fines.
