Off-Campus Login ("Connect from Home")

UConn students, staff, and faculty can connect to UConn's licensed databases, ebooks, and electronic journals from home and other off-campus sites. Click on any database link in the library's web site and you should be prompted to log in with your NetID and password. (This is "EZproxy.") Login may also be necessary when using the wireless network on campus. See other login options below.

All Login Options

Method 1: EZproxy (Easiest)

Click on any database link in the library's web site and you will be prompted to log in with your NetID and password. You can search several databases thereafter, as long as you don't close your browser. (This service is new in January 2009. Please report glitches to the music/drama librarian.)

Method 2: VPN (Next Easiest)

Try this if EZproxy is not working. Just click on the VPN link below or wherever you see a VPN link in the library web site. After logging in with your NetID, follow links to return to the Libraries' home page to begin your research. This method is very easy, but you will have to log in via VPN link every time you restart your browser. VPN can be a bit sluggish and may not work with all audio databases. (VPN stands for "Virtual Private Network." Here is more info about VPN.)

Method 3: Proxy (Better than VPN for Long-Term Use)

Use this if EZproxy is causing long-term problems. With this method, you type a specified web address in your browser's network configuration. Thereafter, when you open your browser you will be prompted to log in with your NetID. This method is easier to use on a day-to-day basis than VPN (once it's set up), is less sluggish than VPN, and streamed audio plays more reliably. Here are Proxy Configuration Instructions.

Note

Most electronic resources are available to anyone—regardless of their affiliation with UConn—from workstations within the Libraries. Most resources linked from the Libraries' web site are also available (without required login) from within the University network, including workstations in computer centers, departmental labs, residence halls, and offices at all of the UConn campuses.
